Kent, England (Southeast England)

View of Folkestone (on our way to go look at some house prospects for Jeanie). This could be her view everyday!

Folkestone

We could see France on the horizon when the weather cleared later on in the day...

View to our left from the Cafe at the Cliffe where we ate (in Capel le Ferne)

View to the right at the cafe. Capel le Ferne is where Bob and mom remember the worst family vacation ever so I wanted to commemorate it a bit. (They both still remember how much they hated it, and mom was only 6 or 7 at the time).

Path down to the beach at Capel le Ferne from the cafe. If this path had been there when Bob and Mom were there, they wouldn't have had to climb down the cliffs to get to the beach. Hence the worst ever vacation tag.

Cat-food picture just for you! Yummy cake (that Clair happens to have the recipe for) and hot chocolate!

No sand here...

Dover displaying the England flags for World Cup!

Military tunnels going through the cliffs made during WWII and Cold War-my next trip to Dover I want to go in these!

This weekend Clair took me to Seven Oaks (small town outside of London in Kent) where a friend of her and her mom's lives-Jeanie. Jeanie is looking to sell her house and move closer to the coast, and she had a housing appointment near Dover Saturday morning. The houses we looked at were not quite right for her (they were new construction which for some reason I find odd. I guess I just assumed all houses in England to be 100's of years old and made in either Tudor style or with thatched roofs). However, it did give us a good excuse to take a look at Dover and the surrounding area! I can definitely see why she would want to move there. At Margaret's-at-Cliffe, you are so close to France, that our cell service actually changed over to France service and alerted us that calls would now cost 43p per minute and using the internet would be 4 pounds per minute! When Clair and Jeanie used to come into Dover for the day, they would pop over to France on the ferry and have lunch there, then pop back. SO cool.
Anyways, the weather was a little not what the weatherman had predicted in the week and I was ill-prepared. It was about 50 degrees with a strong wind and some rain. It's June. I thought it would be hot or atleast in the high 60's. It was not. Oh well though. Still a cool place and had a great weekend house hunting for old little cottages with Jeanie and Clair. We even stopped by a outlet mall in Ashford on our way back to Seven Oaks and got me a sling bag and jacket.
